Smith Rock
First light on the rocks. This piece was created with a combination of pigment taken from pinewood (handmade by me) and reclaimed earth pigments. The reclaimed paints were made from runoff from mine waste harvested from a contaminated creek in Ohio, then processed by printmaker Gamblin here in Oregon. I love thinking about the power of taking waste and making something beautiful, and my hope is that this piece holds that spirit.
12 x 12”
Oil on gallery wrapped stretched linen canvas with 2.5” deep maple float frame crafted by a local woodworker here in Bend.
